Logo

1. While creating my logo, I thought about what interested me and what I really loved. Two things automatically came to mind, flowers and writing. 2. Throughout the process of creating my logo, I realized that writing is something I do every single day. Being a journalism major, writing is my passion. Obviously, pencils are known for writing so I figured why not try and incorporate them into an "H" since that's the letter of my first name. 3. The most important information I learned while creating my logo was how there are millions of ideas that are very hard to choose which one will be the right fit. I cannot imagine the responsibility and the creativity that people have when they create logos for a business. 4. I thought the videos were very interesting and it was fun to learn about how logos are made. I never knew the intricate process of creating a logo. Something I learned from the powerpoint was that the same elements and principles used in art are the same...

Art Gallery

Image
1 & 2 3 & 4 5 & 6 Above are six pieces of artwork that I enjoyed seeing at the Albright Knox Art Gallery. 1. The last two pictures are the two pieces of art that had an impression on me. This is because number 5 is definitely a different type of art. It made me wonder how someone could come up with something like this and realizing that I could too! Number 6 left an impression on me because I learned that this is an oil painting. Walking through the gallery, I realized many of the paintings were oil paintings and I never knew what they looked like. I definitely like this type of art and would love to try it out sometime! 2.  I felt a connection with numbers 3 and 4. Number three shows a great example of value and to me, it was the simplest art there. It has words written on it and I have always loved pictures like that. It is hard for me to explain, but looking at this artwork, it made me feel a sense of pea...

1. While creating the value scale and color wheel, I had a lot of fun. Making the value scale was interesting because it took me a couple tries to get the perfect amount of darkness or lightness in a box. For the color wheel, it was hard for me to make the color black but I got it as close as I could as a dark brown color. 2. I enjoyed working with the paint the best because there was more thinking involved and it was fun to make more colors besides the ones showed! 3. The most important discovery while doing this was to carefully learn how to properly handle the type of media you are working with. It makes it easier and looks better when you know what to do! 4.The most important information I learned was to use cyan, magenta, and yellow instead of red green and blue for primary colors. I thought the videos were VERY helpful, but I do wish the color wheel one had sound!
To create this slideshow I began with writing down all of the elements and principles with their definitions next to it. I then thought of pictures that would correspond with each photo and wrote down what I wanted a picture of. For balance, I used a picture of a sunset because my picture has different textures and colors with other forms and shapes to create the picture. For color I used a painting on my wall of an elephant head with many different colors in it and lines that make up the elephant head. For contrast, I used a pond picture because the different use of elements draws the viewers attention in. For emphasis I used a picture of a Ferrari because the attention is drawn to the red car. For my forms photo, I used a picture I took over the weekend of a building in Toronto because it is a 3D shape with a length, width, and height. For line, I used a picture of a boardwalk because it leads your eye from one one area to another. For movement, I used creek water because it allows th...

Color Theory and Emotional Effects

1. Much of the variety of color is due to how it reacts with other colors that surround it. The way the human eye sees a color is based on where it is placed among other colors. Colors have cultural associations to certain feelings. For example, the color red is a way to signal danger or stop, while it can also signify the feeling of love when one sees the color red. 2. Value most intrigues me because it also connects with the hue of the color when you are changing the value of one. Making a color lighter or darker can change the hue, this is evident in the color yellow because when adding black to it, the color will become not only darker but also have a green hue to it. This fascinates me because of how everything can relate back to each other. 3. In the color video, the biggest impact on me was when I learned how adding colors to a painting keeps it alive. When looking at a picture, something with bright colors will make a person feel happy and uplifted. 4. In the feelings vid...

Video and Article review

1. In video 1 I learned that aesthetics is the study of beauty and art. When I used to hear the term aesthetic I usually just thought of something that was pleasing to the eye, which is true but I now know that it is more than that. In video 2 I learned that works of art are made from human productions based off of their emotional states. Many artists create their work and relate it to feelings that they have and they express it in their artwork. In the article, I found it interesting that the brain automatically detects lines, colors and faces. The way our retina is built, the colors red green and blue are most prominent in our color scheme. 2. Personally, I believe that Plato's theory on aesthetics is the most important. Plato's philosophies were the most famous through the 4th century B.C. What stood out to me the most is how Plato quoted, "There is a beauty by which all things are beautiful". I believe this is the most important philosophy to learn because even ...
