Art Gallery

1 & 2

3 & 4

5 & 6

Above are six pieces of artwork that I enjoyed seeing at the Albright Knox Art Gallery.

1. The last two pictures are the two pieces of art that had an impression on me. This is because number 5 is definitely a different type of art. It made me wonder how someone could come up with something like this and realizing that I could too! Number 6 left an impression on me because I learned that this is an oil painting. Walking through the gallery, I realized many of the paintings were oil paintings and I never knew what they looked like. I definitely like this type of art and would love to try it out sometime!

2.  I felt a connection with numbers 3 and 4. Number three shows a great example of value and to me, it was the simplest art there. It has words written on it and I have always loved pictures like that. It is hard for me to explain, but looking at this artwork, it made me feel a sense of peace and I felt calm while looking at it. Number 4 is also one that I felt a connection with. Just by looking at this type of art, I feel as though it is more modern. It was more "fun" and made me feel happy and relaxed while viewing the different colors and how they all line up and change. The different shades of the colors mix well and I feel at ease looking at it!

3. I would like to know more about numbers 1 and 2. Number one because every time I looked at this art, I saw different lines and shapes each time. If you look hard at the colors and lines, your eyes will shift and see other lines going through the horizontal ones. The colors make it even better because they are almost the same so it makes it harder to separate! I would love to learn more how artists do this and how they know what will confuse the human eye. Number 2 also uses many lines and colors. While this one is easier to depict, I still wonder how the artist came up with the idea of adding so many different lines. Again with this one, I see different lines overtime I look at the artwork. The colors are not all the same so it is easier to separate the boxes but I still want to learn how every line matches up with another one and how the artist thought it through.
